Workstation (Windows) and Fusion (Mac OS) are desktop virtualization software developed by VMware, Inc., USA.
On May 14th, VMware released the latest versions of its desktop virtualization platforms: Workstation Pro 17.5.2 and Fusion Pro 13.5.2. Both products are now completely free for personal use.
Refer to the VMware official blog for details.
Points to note:
Only the latest versions and subsequent versions support free licenses for personal use. For example, with Workstation Pro, you will be asked to enter a license key upon the first launch. For personal users, you only need to select "Personal Use" to use it for free.
The free versions of Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro are only applicable for non-commercial use. VMware defines personal use as follows: Workstation or Fusion installed on a computer and used to run virtual machines for non-commercial purposes. Personal use explicitly excludes any commercial purposes, including running or operating a business, organization, government organization, or educational institution.
